Heart disease is the leading cause of death and disability in New York City. The HeartSmarts Cardiovascular Health Education Program educates individuals, families, and communities about heart disease, its risk factors, and its prevention. The Cornell Center for Health Equity in collaboration with Vanderveer United Methodist Chruch present 8 weeks of Heartsmart workshops that focus on: 

  • Controlling high blood pressure
  • Healthy eating
  • Choosing the right exercise programs
  • Living Healthier with multiple chronic health conditions
  • Mental health awareness and treatment
